Parco Sartania - Napoli
The planting project at Parco Sartania in Naples represents a fundamental initiative to improve the quality of life in the local community. This project was born with the primary goal of providing the community with an ideal place for green tourism and outdoor physical activity. Thanks to the collaboration with Lagardere Travel Retail, we have managed to transform a vast area of the park into a green oasis, enhancing not only the aesthetics of the place but also its ecological and social functionality.
The planting of new trees brings numerous benefits. By absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, plants help purify the air and reduce atmospheric pollution, a particularly relevant aspect in urban areas like Naples. Additionally, the presence of trees and green spaces helps mitigate the heat island effect typical of cities, making the park a cooler and more pleasant place, especially during the summer months. This project also promotes local biodiversity by creating natural habitats for numerous animals, insects, and birds, maintaining an ecological balance. The shrub species selected is Ligustrum lucidum var, chosen according to landscape and ecological compatibility criteria with the place and neighboring trees.
Specifically, the variety Ligustrum lucidum excelsum superbum was selected for its characteristics: evergreen, conical, with ovate or oval, shiny, tapered leaves, bright green with yellow edges, up to 15 cm long. At the end of summer and early autumn, very fragrant white flowers appear, gathered in panicles up to 20 cm long, followed by blue-black oblong-oval fruits.
It is a fast-growing plant that adapts to any type of soil as long as it is well-drained.
The realization of this project was made possible thanks to the valuable collaboration with Lagardere Travel Retail, which provided significant support for the planting of new plants. This intervention not only enriches the green heritage of Parco Sartania but also represents an investment in the health and well-being of the local community.
